The project aims to utilize the hemolymph of snow crabs, a waste product from factory processing, to generate vaccines tailored to various orphan diseases, for which no treatments are currently available on the market. The biotechnology used helps valorize an important yet underutilized marine resource to meet the veterinary market's demand for high-quality antibodies at an affordable price.
The proposed project addresses an issue that has plagued poultry farms around the world for over 35 years: the emergence of a microbial infection caused by Enterococcus Cecorum, which leads to severe illnesses and the death of broiler chickens before they reach market weight for human consumption.
In close collaboration with Cobb-Vantress/Tyson Foods, a major American food company, and Burnbrea Farms, a key Canadian player in egg production and distribution, Chyono Biotech Inc. is developing the first nutraceutical product based on hyperimmune egg yolks designed to feed and protect broiler chicks from damage caused by E. Cecorum infections. Real-world testing will allow for the positioning of this first nutraceutical product and, eventually, the commercialization of this innovative and highly sought-after solution on the global market.
